Weekend Casual
Monday, October 27, 2014
Hey friends, happy Monday! This was such a casual weekend for Chris and I, we didn't do anything glamorous. Actually, it was the complete opposite of that. We worked our butts off.
We did a little bit of yard work (a lot actually), cleaned the house, washed the car and even carved a couple of pumpkins! I love productive weekends.
Since I knew Saturday was going to be a super busy day I kept my outfit pretty casual. I had an old t-shirt dress, styled before HERE, that is no longer a dress. I guess it is in the back, but it's a little short in the front and I'm not trying to be one of those who wear leggings with a top that doesn't cover the goods. That's a no-no.
Instead, I decided to tie it up (I love me a good knotted tee) and wear it over a pair of distressed skinny jeans.
And let's talk about that necklace for a second. A friend from work told me about the Akola Project. The Akola Project brings opportunity and work to under-educated women, training them to become artisans. The end result, beautifully made jewelry and an increased lifestyle for those who may not have had an opportunity otherwise.
I'm so glad that I was made aware of the company and plan to continue my support by buying and styling their pieces. Jewelry with a purpose is the best kind of jewelry.
Go read more about their story, I know it'll brighten up your Monday. And do a little shopping while you're at it! I can't help but think about those incredible women when I'm wearing my pieces.
So tell me, what local business do you love and how can I help support them also?
